This is
the official website of
Finima community in Bonny Kingdom, Rivers
State, Nigeria.
Finima is a sizable vibrant
multi-national settlement in Bonny LGA,
on the Atlantic coast of Nigeria where
the huge multi-billion dollar Nigeria
Liquefied
Natural Gas (NLNG) industry and the
terminals of several oil and gas companies,
including ExxonMobil (trading in Nigeria
as Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited
(MPNU) are established.
The main settlement used to be on the site of
what is now the NLNG terminal
(industrial Area -I.A), and was
relocated more
than two decades ago. The surrounding
area is
dominated by
construction related to the oil
& gas industry, which has brought in large
numbers of migrant workers, both
Nigerians and expatriates; though an
island at the edge of the mangrove
forest, motor vehicles are plentiful and
traffic to and from the different oil
facilities is heavy.
Finima Town on Bonny Island is a land of
fulfilment and Limitless
opportunities both to the citizens of the
land, the Rivers people, the nation and
the world at large. The
history of Finima has been
prominent in Nigeria's
history from the
very early times (see: Trading States of
The Oil Rivers by G.I. Jones).
The economic importance of Finima
to the nation is as a result of its
commanding pre-eminent role in Nigeria's
Oil and Gas industry today. Three major world class
companies: Shell, ExxonMobil and now
NLNG all have major operations and
therefore contributing $billions to
Nigeria's economy annually.
