The entire human circle of birth, growth, marriage, sickness and
death are marked by religious observances. Although majority of the
natives of Finima currently are Christians, traditional
religious activities still take place in the community. Finima is
renowned to be the custodian of ancient Ibani Deity (SIMINGI)
with persons like Awanta (former High Priest of Simingi who was the younger
half brother of Omuso, the Chief of Brown Major House. It was Omuso who as
the ruler that appointed his half brother Awanta to oversee the Deity). Yearly, Nwaotam
carnival (an elements of cultural and traditional display) is prominent in the lives of the Finima people. The traditional Finima concept, like other Africans, believes in
a supreme power and the delegation of power by the Supreme Being to
specialized deities. They believe in ancestral spirits, sacrifice in
times of crises and in peace to the gods to ensure divine protection
and generosity. However, since late 19th
century Finima has gradually become predominantly Christian with the
arrival of Missionaries like Bishop Ajayi Crowther in 1899, Bishop Dimieari,
etc. St Patrick's Anglican Church and Christ Army Church are the
foremost of over 25 denominations in present day Finima.
The current Head/Paramount Ruler is

Sound of God, which teaches a new route to the Kingdom of God
through singing of HU (pronounce as hue), a most Holy and Sacred name for God. Karma and
re-incarnation are primary beliefs. This religion teaches that each
person is Soul who has been sent here to gain spiritual unfoldment
in order to become a co-worker with GOD
