There are three chieftaincy Houses in Finima namely: the Brown Royal
(Founding) House, Tobin and Attoni (Minor/Sub) Houses. Finima was founded by
Kongo, a royal prince from Ebenitoru, western Ijaw (Izon). The Brown House is the Major House both in
tradition as well as contributes the greater percentage of
indigenes, but all the other Sister Houses are related and
traditionally co-operate, live and work together.
There is also a fourth Family Group: The Hart House, which came from
the larger Bonny Group nearly 300 years ago as in-laws to the Brown
House and though still bearing the family name of "Hart", are now
considered Finima people in their own right and generally identifying
with the Major Brown House in all traditional matters of governance.
